Here we go again. . .
Do I have a history of blogging? The answer is yes if you include the love I’ve had for writing for years. Writing has been a creative outlet for me and sometimes the best way for me to get my emotions out. In my early 20s, I started journaling not about my feelings but about fun adventures with my friends. I knew that I wouldn’t remember them in my 40s. I was right BUT I also didn’t do a good job in my writing because I don’t even know what I’m talking about in those journal entries. I often have to go back to my friends and say, “does any of this make sense to you?”
In 2011, we were building a house and I used Blogger to keep everyone updated on how the house was coming. I think it was creatively called “How’s the house coming?”! HA!
Here is the link to that Blogger account about our house!
Why do it again? I am described (not by myself but by my friends) as “always busy” and people say “I live vicariously through you.”. I have some friends that are 100% invested in anything I put on social media but those same friends are often exhausted with trying to keep up with me. Honestly, this rebound back to blogging started with thinking, “If I could just send my friends a weekly newsletter, they wouldn’t be exhausted with my social posts and it would be a place I could document things friends are always asking for. “What is that eye serum you love? What resort did you stay at in the DR? Can you send me that recipe for those enchiladas?”
I think i’ve realized through my newsletter research that it makes sense to set up a trusty blog again to link back to the newsletter because let’s be honest I got a lot to say!
What can you expect here on the blog? Your guess is as good as mine. HA! My best guess is a deeper dive into things going on in my life through that week.
Maybe 2 blog posts a week. Ideas for blog posts always hit me 1) when I’m doing my hair (actually what I was in the middle of before I typed this up) 2) when I’m driving a really long drive 3) at 9:30pm when I’m trying to go to sleep! All the best times you see! It really just depends on when I have time to open the tablet and get those thoughts out. The problem is not the thoughts but the time to get them in the blog!
Don’t worry this won’t be like dear diary posts. Over the years, I’ve gotten good at knowing the things that my friends continue to ask me for or are interested in so I’ll tend to steer toward topics that people will actually read.
Whenever I can figure out the newsletter my goal is for it to be your recap of what I’ve been up to that week including any travel, cooking, cocktail making, buying, reading, watching and what instagram rabbit hole did I go down and now obssessed with. (This week enter the 2016 murder of a former College of Charleston student which was documented on the show “Death in the Dorms” on Hulu. Man. . . rabbit hole for 2 days now on that one!)
So cheers to me making it this far in this blog post, now let’s hope I can figure out the technology to get this posted AND figure out how to connect a newsletter to a subscriber list. (That is after I get subscribers!)
I hope you are having the most amazing pre Spring week out there.
XOXO
